The Authors’ Assistant opened their doors in 1996 at the onset of an ever-changing publishing industry. Their mission to guide aspiring and established authors
through an ostensibly arduous process
allows authors to focus on what they love to do: write.
After two decades working with over 300 authors and publishers, Mindy, Danielle, and Danylle are equipped to guide you through the editing, publishing, and promotion of your book with professionalism and ease.

Mindy Reed
Mindy believes that when we share our stories and knowledge we share our humanity.
​
She holds a Master of Library and Information Science degree from the University of Texas at Austin, a Master of Liberal Arts degree in Humanities from Southern Methodist University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Business from Kansas State University.
A librarian and college instructor, Mindy is a member of various professional writing organizations.
​
Her favorite authors include Ray Bradbury, Kurt Vonnegut, Barbara Kingsolver, Jane Smiley and Jared Diamond.
Danielle Hartman Acee
As co-owner of The Authors’ Assistant, Danielle specializes in social media marketing strategies, book production, and copyediting. Danielle conducts and teaches organic and deliberate social media strategies used for building a readership.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of Texas at Austin and technical certifications in Adobe Creative Suite software.
Currently, her favorite author is TC Boyle, as you can tell by her excitement in this photo.
Danylle is a native Austinite who has always loved to read and edit—so much so that she edits advertisements and signage when out and about! She loves to learn new words (or old words she's never heard before), and misuse of the possessive apostrophe is her pet peeve.
She has a Bachelor of Arts in Newspaper Journalism from the University of Texas at Austin and has worked as an editor in various capacities for the entirety of her professional career—newspaper, magazine, advertising, and fiction and nonfiction writing.
Danylle’s favorite authors are anyone who writes a biography because she finds others’ lives fascinating. However, she can always count on Stephen King for a fun read.
